Gold at the 2025 Decanter World Wine Awards
Lake Chalice is flying high following the results from the 2025 Decanter World Wine Awards, one of the world’s largest and most influential wine competitions.
Our Lake Chalice The Falcon Sauvignon Blanc 2024 wowed the judges, who praised it as a “benchmark Dillons Point” Sauvignon Blanc, earning it a prized Gold medal. It’s a proud moment for Chloe and the team and a great recognition to the quality coming from this fertile subregion of Marlborough.

Across three key varietals, our wines stood out on the international stage, picking up one Gold and three Silver medals scoring 90-93 points each. These brilliant results are a true reflection of winemaker Chloe Gabrielsen’s commitment to crafting expressive, high-quality wines from the Marlborough region.
Gold Medal –
Lake Chalice The Falcon Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Our Falcon Sauvignon Blanc is no stranger to the spotlight when it comes to internationally recognised competitions. After taking home gold at the 2024 Marlborough Wine Show, the National Wine Awards of Aotearoa, and AWC Vienna, earning another gold at the 2025 Decanter World Wine Awards is a standout moment in what’s already been a stellar run for this wine.
Judges comments of the 2024 vintage:
“Benchmark Dillons Point! Exhibiting stylish white nectarine, passion fruit and orange blossom enriched with a saline, savoury concentration and an alluring herbal focus. Fresh, citrussy and long.”

Silver Medals –
Lake Chalice Plume Chardonnay 2022 – 93 Points
Our Plume Chardonnay is crafted to bring a different perspective to fine wine. Sourced form a single vineyard in the upper Wairau Valley, this Chardonnay went through a wild primary and secondary fermentation to craft a unique and textured wine. Regular lees stirring and nine months in barrel resulted in an intense palate with beautiful fruit forward flavours.
Judges comments:
“A lovely bright, taut style of chardonnay with lots of citrus and peach-toned edges and a focused mineral core.”

Lake Chalice The Falcon Pinot Noir 2023 – 93 Points
Marlborough Pinot Noir is a variety that continues to speak for itself, especially as we push further into exploring the unique sub-regional expressions and clonal diversity the region offers. The Falcon Pinot Noir is primarily sourced from the Eyrie Vineyard in the Waihopai Valley, an area known for its well-drained, clay-over-gravel soils that consistently deliver depth, structure, and richness in red wines. Helping to craft the Falcon Pinot Noir burst with red fruit characters and a fine tannin structure.
Judges comments:
“Classic, attractive raspberry and cherry characters throughout, with barrel spices and mineral stone soil layers; fine tannins and lots to like.”

Lake Chalice The Raptor Sauvignon Blanc 2024 – 90 Points
The Raptor Sauvignon Blanc is a limited release expression consisting of small parcels of fruit from Dillons Point in Marlborough. This Sauvignon Blanc is a rich and elegant wine, showing impressive weight and complexity.
Judges comments:
“Intense herbaceous nose with mineral, lime and white peach aromatics allied to sandy stone minerality. Zingy, taut and long.”

With over 18,000 wines tasted blind by some of the industry’s top palates, receiving high scores from the Decanter World Wine Awards are no small feat for our team. These results are a real credit to Chloe and our wider team who put in the work every vintage. It’s the consistent effort that allows us to produce wines with real integrity, character, and a strong sense of place.
