Sourced from carefully selected fruit from the ancient fertile floodplain within Marlborough’s Wairau Valley. Fermented in a mixture of tank and French oak cask before ageing on lees for 7 months to enhance texture. Stone fruit and spice on the nose and through to the creamy palate which has a wonderful mealy character set against spice from well-handled oak. The palate is soft and approachable with a laser-focussed and lengthy finish.
New Zealand’s endemic falcon – the Kārearea – is proudly displayed on every bottle of Lake Chalice wine. A native to the Marlborough region but rarely seen, Kārearea favour the remote mountains and foothills of the Awatere and Wairau valleys of Marlborough. The Falcon range is the mainstay and signature of the Lake Chalice portfolio. Representing signature flavours unique to our vineyards expressed in a wide range of grape varieties.
