We’re excited to announce the 2016 Plume Chardonnay has won a gold medal and placed in the Top 10 Chardonnays of the world at Chardonnay du Monde 2021.

Over 600 Chardonnays from 36 countries were tasted with 51 gold medals awarded. Plume was the only submission from New Zealand to win gold, an incredible achievement for Lake Chalice.

Established for more than 20 years with over 700 international experts on the judging panel, Chardonnay du Monde showcases the best Chardonnays from all over the world.  Tasted over a 4 day period in which the expert judges immerse themselves into the wines, emerging with a library of the world’s best Chardonnays.

Winemaker Chloe Gabrielsen comments “Our challenge as winemakers is to bring out the best in every variety and to celebrate what each season and harvest provides. Plume Chardonnay has notes of popcorn, roasted hazelnuts, and spice, it’s silky and luscious with a fine acid drive”.

Plume has several other accolades, with 4.5 Starts from Top Tastes, 19/20 Points from Candice at Raymond Chan Wine Reviews, and 94/100 Points from Bob Campbell MW.

Winemaker Chloe Gabrielsen independently fermented unique parcels of fruit from a single vineyard, this particular wine was sourced from Peter and Anne Reed’s in the Lower Waihopai Valley, Marlborough. This boutique approach retains the quality and reputation of Lake Chalice Wines globally.
