Imagine standing in a luscious green tropical forest. At a clearing in the trees, a small river drops off a rocky edge into an inviting water hole a few meters below you. More than merely crystal waters, it’s filled with peach, lemon and citrus fruits. The spray from the waterfall drifts in the air like a fine spritz. Are you ready to jump? Come on – three, two, one, jump!
2019 Lake Chalice Wines – The Falcon Chardonnay 2019
Sourced from carefully selected fruit from the ancient fertile floodplain within Marlborough's Wairau Valley. Fermented in a mixture of tank and French oak cask before ageing on lees for 7 months to enhance texture. A fresh tropical Chardonnay that has a ripe peach palate with hints of lemon zest and pastry notes on the finish.
Wairau Valley, Marlborough.
The majority of fruit is harvested from our Falcon Vineyard and blended with other carefully selected blocks from Marlborough’s Wairau Valley.
Fermented and oaked in tank before moving to French oak barriques for the final months of maturation in the seasoned casks. Only a few parcels of fruit undergo malolactic fermentation, the rest were left untouched giving the final blend an acid driven and clean fresh palate.
Light straw yellow.
Citrus lemon, and melon with subtle notes of butter caramel on the finish.
Ripe peach, fresh, luscious and tropical citrus with hints of lemon zest and pastry notes. A focused acid drive mingles with softly textured phenolics through to the finish.
